There’s really not a whole lot to say about this enclosure except that it’s a great value for the price and it’s a nice, versatile piece of hardware for a number of different scenarios.

Who would use this? If you have a spare hard drive and want to turn it into a portable USB 3.0 drive, this is for you. If you grab a great deal on a 2.5″ drive and want to use it for backing up your computer, this is for you. If you have a laptop hard drive crash, or are transferring data to a new laptop and need to access the old drive by USB on the new computer, this enclosure is for you.

It’s a solid, but not rock solid piece of manufacturing. It’s brushed-texture plastic made to look like metal, but it feels pretty solid. It comes with the USB 3.0 cable and little else, mainly because it needs little else to work. It’s powered by USB, so there’s no power plug. It just, more or less, works. It’s toolless, so you can just pop it open, pop the drive in and close it. Connect it to your PC or Mac and as long as your drive is good, it will appear. What’s not to love?
