Today, Instagram opened up the ability to basically post a picture to the platform from a mobile web browser. Luckily, it appears that this now allows users to post pictures from any computer with a browser that allows you to emulate a smartphone, like the “Inspect” feature in Google Chrome. Here I am uploading a picture to my Instagram account from the Google Chrome browser on my Macbook Pro.
This is a great, but inelegant way to post photos to your Instagram account from a PC. This is a feature that is particularly important for marketers, photographers and social media professionals, and has long been asked for. Until now, you’ve had to use intermediary apps like Buffer to do this.
No telling how long this will work, but I can’t imagine that they’ll restrict this workaround since it seems to be triggered by Instagram sensing a mobile device, and that is easily emulated by a PC browser.
